Nearly 1/3 of Americans have an immediate family member who has an addiction.  Of the households with an immediate family member who had an addiction problem, 44% reported more than one family member with an addiction problem.  I think these statistics are pretty high, although they could be a lot worse.  But addiction is more prevalent than ever.  And if anyone has experienced addiction themselves, or knows a family member who has, they know that this number is way too high.
