I don’t think this is really considered gambling but it has to do with money. I read a story about some people who would send out letters to everyone, especially senior citizens. In the letter it says they won big money, but they would have to mail in a check to “cover the taxes” on the money they supposedly won. One senior citizen said he got 12 of them in one day! It looked like a check that was for $612,444.89, but at the top in very small writing it says “this is not a check” and that it is similar to what the person would get if they send the money. And they send these everywhere! Even police departments!
Sad thing is I think I would definitely fall for that!

It seems like scams are everywhere these days.  And you have to really trust your instincts, to decide what may be too good to be true.  A couple weeks ago I was applying for jobs off of Craigslist and I emailed my resume to a few places.  Well I got emails back almost immediately from 8 different places.  Lots of them were for personal shoppers, and lots of companies that want you to work from home for their advertisements, things like that.  I didn't want to take any chances...!  And I was also searching for a roommate a couple months ago and I got many emails from 'foreigners' who are moving to my area very soon and want to secure a room.  They all sounded so similar and they needed my address, name, other personal info so that they could send a check to make sure that it was already paid for.  I'm sure once I cashed the check, I would've been in a world of trouble.  How easy would that be for them to get my personal finance/banking info!  I'm sure a lot of people do it too, they wouldn't still be doing it unless it worked once in a while on an unsuspecting person.

Yeah, I agree Scams are everywhere. That's why it is very important to check the source and check it well. Call the company and see if it is accredited or even part of the BBB. I also heard that you should have them return your call to make sure it is real. I was looking for Yorkie dogs a couple months ago and when everyone else wanted 1200 this one place wanted $250 from traveling fee. They were shipping these dogs from an island off of Africa. Seemed kinda fishy so I never bought one.

Shipping them from an island off of Africa?? Isn't that also illegal? Pets need passports too.
I remember getting one of the letters saying I won 8 million dollars and to just send in 175 dollars because of some taxes for the shipping. I was 16 and I was so angry when my parents said "no". I'm glad i didn't do that. But even those cars that they have at the mall where you could win them those are scams as well. We won one once and they had us go to this seminar and watch this whoole long movie of commercials and then kept trying to get us to purchase things from this seminar and we had to purchase atleast one in order to get the car and then we had to sign up for a plan for something, it just kept going on and on and on.
