Did you know that the holiday season is the time of the year when you’re most likely to die from a heart attack? It’s the most stressful time of year. Since a restful night’s sleep or an hour at the gym isn’t always possible here are 10 quick ways to stress less.
1.    Swear: it takes one second. Researchers at England’s university of East Anglia Norwich looked into leadership styles and found that using swear words can reduce stress and boost camaraderie among coworkers.
2.    Pop fish oil: it takes 5 seconds and according to research from the university of Pittsburgh people with the highest blood levels of EPA and DHA omega 3-fatty acids are happier, less impulsive and more agreeable.
3.    Eat dark chocolate: it takes 10 seconds! A study of the National Academy of Sciences showed that the flavonoids in cocoa relax your body’s blood vessels. Look for low-fat dark chocolate, which has more stress-busting flavonoids than milk chocolate.
4.    Know your hoku: Acupuncture is a quick tension releaser; it can reduce stress by up to 39%. For fast relief massage your hoku (the fleshy part between the thumb and index finger) for about 20-30 seconds. This is the universal pressure point for easing upper body tension.
5.    Sit back: for just 30 seconds forget what you have been told about sitting up straight to relieve tension in your back. Researchers at the university of Alberta hospital in Canada found that leaning back at a 135 degree angle is the best sitting position for alleviating back pain
6.    Add garlic: garlic is a powerful stress buster. When you digest garlic’s main ingredient, organosulfur allicin, your body produces hydrogen sulfide which relaxes blood vessels and increases blood flow.
7.    Brew tea: it takes 3 minutes. In a study at University College in London, 75 men were given tea before completing two stressful tastes. Afterwards, their cortisol levels dropped an average of 47% compared with 27% for those who weren’t given tea.
8.    Take a YouTube time out: it takes 5 mins! Just the anticipation of laughing decreases the stress hormones dopac, cortisol, and epinephrine by 38, 39, and 70 percent. When researchers gave short movie clips to study participants those who watched funny films experienced a 22 percent increase in blood flow to their hearts.
9.    Budget wisely: money is the biggest source of stress during the holidays. People who avoid making budgets spend an average of 36% more on holiday gifts than those who don’t.  Go easy on your wallet and your heart.
10.    Just do it! : having sex regularly lowers anxiety, stress, and blood pressure. However don’t do it with various partners. Keep it to your loved one only! Otherwise your stress will go way way up.

These are good ideas, thanks!  Often times, I think ahead in the morning of all the things I have to do so I'll drink extra coffee or have a soda at lunchtime.  But I guess that's not the best way to deal with stress.  I definitely have a lot of tea at home, but during the day that might be better for me!

If someone cussed at me at work I would be more stressed out. When people swear even around me it makes me  nervous.

I think it means if someone cusses just in the same room and you hear it, not necessarily at you.  LOL this is actually sort of true.  At my work, one of our clients needed some software right away but there was no way we could've got it to them in time, so one of my higher ups dropped the F bomb and it made me laugh because I wasn't expecting it.  I guess it has to be an appropriate situation, in this case the situation didn't really involve me but it was funny to witness.

I've noticed that just screaming when your frustrated helps a lot. Don't do it when people are around, don't embarrass yourself but just screaming in a pillow at home helps me a lot!

I feel better when around my friends. even if we're just hanging out talking about normal stuff, or catching up.  Or playing with my puppy.. she's soo happy and fun to wrestle with, that helps!  Or watching Home Funniest Videos, that show always gives me a good laugh!

Driving relieves my stress. If I'm having a really bad day just going out for a drive even if I don't play any music it helps.
Also everyone has one of those random friends who make it a party even if all your doing is sitting on the computer. I have one of those and hanging out with her gets all my problems off my mind!

Milk calms me down a lot. I feel like it just makes me real calm, makes my heart beat slower, and takes me out of that state of anger, and stress. It doesn't help for long but it helps for those few minutes. Thing is I don't even like milk at all. I drink it as if its medicine. Just chugg down a whole cup.
