There's a stage in life when the type of parent that every kid wants is one that will party with them, get them all the alcohol they want, and have all their friends envious of how chill their parent is. However that party stage only lasts a few years for the kids, what happens after that? Usually with those types of parents when they are needed in any other way, financially, or emotionally there, they are not. While the strict parents who try to prevent their kids from doing any wrong things and aren't really the coolest, are always support their children through whatever, and are there even throughout the toughest times. Those are the parents that really trully care and love their child and those are the parents that should be rationally prefered. It's also the same way around for the parent. It's like when you do a big project and you put so much work into doing it right and getting right, you feel so much prouder of it than if you just slapped everything together at the last minute. When a parent puts a lot of hard work into making their kids respectful, succesful, and responsible adults, they probably love them and care for them and are so incredibly proud of them more than if they jsut let them do whatever and didn't stop them from doing any wrongs. They had apart of their amazing future and I dont think anything can make a parent happier. Thats the type of parent everyone should be, and thats the type of parent that the kid should be happy to have!

That's really true, and I love your example of the project that you put so much effort into.  That way, even if you child messes up, which all kids do... you can have faith in yourself and know that you did everything you could to raise them right. And as far as party parents go, of course some kids want chill parents, but the kids are always embarrassed and everyone finds out.  I was watching this show about embarrassing parents and this one mom was completely whacko.  She had a really good body and looked so young, and she acted like a complete slut when around her daughter's friends.  She held a party at her house, and totally ruined her daughter's evening because she was acting retarded, but couldn't see how bad it was hurting her own child.  It's not a good way to connect with your kids, and even though it can be hard to say NO, it's worth it in the end.
