Did you know that junk food makers donate large sums of money to professional nutrition associations? I find that pretty ironic. For example the American Dietetic Association accepts money from companies such as Coca-Cola. They also fund front groups that fight anti-obesity public health initiatives. Also when you see labels such as “zero trans fats”, or “contains whole wheat” it creats a false impression that a product is healthy when its not. These claims make people forget about the calories.

At least they're making an effort to give back to something they're causing. One of my Biology teachers last year told me that from all of the money made from buying bottled water in one year, 1/10 of it could build water treatment centers in developing countries. That's amazing to me because second and third world countries are still suffering from diseases like Cholera, which is caused by a microorganism found in stale water. It hasn't affected the U.S. in years. But just last week, Zimbabwe had an outbreak of Cholera. This shouldn't be happening. Imagine drinking from a stream of dirty river everyday. And it's the same water that's floated downstream, which was used by other tribes to bath and go to the bathroom in...

thats disgusting! I'm sure those water companies make a lot of money and 1/10 of their profit will still probably be like pennies to them! It would be great if we used that money to help other countries water. I know that Ethos water that they sell at starbucks contributes too getting clean water in Africa.
My mother had to live in Iraq for a few months when she was younger because my grandpa was stationed there so the whole family moved. She said that the water, even the water they bought was still dirty and they had to boil it and then put it in the fridge so that it would be clean and cold.
Here's an interesting fact though, we all complain about gas prices but did you know a gallon of water costs the same as a gallon of gas. But no one really complains about the water prices.
