Are You Rude?

Are You Rude?

Eighty percent of Americans think rudeness is a serious national problem, but 99 percent of the same people say that they themselves are not rude.  If you've ever worked as a service clerk or even a waiter, you probably know that there are a lot of rude people out there.  People have a right to receive good service, but they do not have a right to be rude.  We have to understand that those who service us are human too, and how we treat others reflects us and can leave someone feeling good or bad.  "We never touch people so lightly that we do not leave a trace"  This is so true.  Sometimes I believe that I can be short with someone and just demand what I want, when that's not kind at all, in fact it's rude.  Some of my worst pet peeves is people who are completely uncivil to others in their day to day life.  You can really tell a lot about a person by the way they treat those who service the public.

I think many people are rude to service clerks or waiters and all those people to scare them. I know I do that whenever I call customer service places, I show them how frustrated I am and they do seem to work better when I am rude to them. I myself had to work at a customer service place and when angry customers would call I would try harder to solve their problem than I would a happy customer. However I dont think its nice being rude to your waiter. I wouldn't be able to do that. I myself am an extremely nice person I cant be rude to anyone even when it really should be done. But when its things like over the phone services it took me awhile to get accustomed to the fact that if i need to get help and quick then the best way to do it is get over my niceness and be rude to them. Especially if they transfer you like 9 times.

They're most likely transferring you 9 different times because of the fact that you're rude to them.  I don't agree with being rude.. but I am assertive when it comes to service calls.  It's basically a business transaction, and regarding business, it should always be done politely and effectively.  It's good that you can get over your niceness, but calm and assertive is the best way to go around things, IMO.
