Did you know that during WWII there came I think either 30 or 60 days where america would send out pilots from sunrise all the way till night to bomb japan. Well throughout that time they would provide the army members flying with uppers in the morning to wake them up and downers at night to put them to sleep. They did this constantly every day so basically they were drugged out for longer than a month. At the end they were all addicts and right after finishing their mission and were sent straight to a treatment center. This information was all disclosed and army members took an oath to never tell about this. It all came out about 2 years ago and the army is still trying to hide it. I thought this was really interesting, but its sad that these men had to even get addicted to save our country and provide us with our freedom that we enjoy today.

That is really sad. Veterans are the true heroes of this country, it was a selfless act to put themselves through that much for our country! I think back then, things were a lot different than now. drugging soldiers and pilots could never be possible today. In other countries this was happening also during wars. Even during the Olympics, drug use and steroids were used. Germany would give their Olympic athletes steroids, without even telling them they were steroids. One woman, a shot putter, was given steroids for a number of years and now considers herself a man because of all of the changes she went through due to her heavy steroid use.

OMG thats so sad about that russian woman! Steroids mess up your body so much. And it doesn't even look good. I think when wrestlers are all big like that it looks disgusting.
But soldiers are true heroes for going to these frightful wars, for risking their lives, an addiction everything. I also heard about that. My teacher told us about it a few years ago and what made it sadder was that his dad was on that 45 days 45 attack mission. He said his father told him everything about the war but thats one thing he left out. When it came out to the public that drugs were used he asked his father and his father told him how they made him swear an oath to never tell anyone. He was one of those addicts and recovered! Another reason to be a tremendous hero.

I never thought our government would do such a thing. We spend so much money trying to keep drugs off the street yet our government provided our troops with it. That makes me disappointed. They took advantage of these men who were already risking their lives and added on substances that could risk their future as well. I'm sure some of those soldiers had to relapse and continue suffering an addiction.

I guess desperate times calls for desperate measures. I still think that that is very wrong, and inhumane to force a person to live like that for 45 days!! Plus the after effects, how hard it must be to stay off them, and the health hazards that just being on any drug causes! Its terrible!
