I was watching on the news yesterday about how in New Jersey parents can rent drug sniffing dogs to sniff out their childs bedroom, and car and see if they are using drugs. Drug tests can be fooled which can be extremely dangerous. A parent will be content thinking their teen is not taking drugs because the test says so, when in reality they’re looking at the test and not the teen. They cant cheat the dogs nose.  I think this could be a good idea. Also some parents may be suspicious of their child taking drugs but they wont accuse them of it incase they’re mistaken. This could prove to them that they are using drugs and they then have the right to accuse them. I think these drug sniffing dogs should be rented all over america. It could help out lots of families.

That's a good idea, it sounds effective and could really scare kids to think that their parents are that serious about not doing drugs, or having them in the house.  But it shouldn't be the only alternative to drug testing.  If you go to the right places, then drug tests are very effective.  And some are so accurate that you can tell when the last time your kid took drugs, and whether or not they are quitting.  Sometimes drugs take weeks, even months to get out of your system.

I really don't think I would have ever thought that this would be a service. What is this world coming to? It's so sad to me that children are lying so bad to their parents that they can't even trust them. I have mixed emotions about this.

I think if my parents ever hired a drug dog to sniff my stuff, whether I was on drugs or not I would feel very violated. I dont think my relationship with my parents would ever remain the same. Its sad that trust issues between a child and their parent has reached to this level, but I guess thats what this war on drugs does. And although using these dogs or testing kids for drugs and all these things may ruin a relationship and can jsut be tense and wierd, it could also prevent an addiction, or help control one.
