My friend and God

My friend and God

I have a friend who has been going through a lot of things lately. Everything is going so wrong for her, her family, families health, her addiction, and love life. She was crying to me about it and she doesn't know what to do. I told her she needs to pray and ask God for help. And although she is a very strong believer in God her reply was "I'm cursed with that whenever I pray nothing happens". It got me pretty mad, I lectured her for about 20 minutes telling her how could she say that. God helps you everytime you ask for help, if not in the ways you ask for he helps you out in better. And what can she do? Just sit there and cry. Her friends cannot help her out, neither can her family or her boyfriend, the only thing that can help her is God. After explaining all that to her she agreed and said she is going to start to pray.

That's so true, and congratulations on being a good friend and giving good advice.  It's what we're supposed to do, encourage and inspire each other through God.  I remember being taught an acronym in church, it's PUSH, or (Pray Until Something Happens).  Usually we ask God for something only once, and we don't see it being answered, but it's because we haven't asked him enough times.  We need to keep praying over and over, and things might take years to be answered, but eventually they will.  God always has the resources to help us, but we need to ask him to help us in ways that will glorify him.

I really like that acronym  you used TeamPink.. God may not answer our prayers right away but he has a reason for it and even if he doesn't answer it in ways we want him to he answers them in better. Its never a good thing to be negative with God, he helps you out when you ask for it but you really have to put all your faith in him, and leaving God as a last resort is not a good thing. This is whats so great about God though, so many people leave him as their last resort when they really cant do anything else. It would've been so much better to ask for his help from the beggining, but even as the last resort God still selflessly helps.

I think something that may be good to think about is that God has his own timing and plan for each of our lives. I think we try too hard to make a time line of our lives and expect certain things to happen when it's convenient for us. God has a plan for your friend and although she doesn't understand it now, one day I think it will make sense. Also I think at times we are tested to see how we react to certain things that occur in our lives. I think it affects how we witness to people. Two years ago our pastors wife died and not once did he doubt God or get angry. As the congregation we saw how a man of God handled such a hard situation and never took his eyes off God. I hope this makes sense.

I think a lot of people are just too impatient when it come to God. Everyone knows God is capable of everything and he has the power to do everything. So when we ask for his help we want it right away. And some people think that if it doesn't happen right away then God is not looking after us and it just wont happen but that's not true. God is never late, he is always on time. And his time his different than the time we want it to be.

It's really good that you talked her into praying and made her realize that the only thing that can help her is God. Really its amazing. Did you know that every person you get to pray to God, God counts it as if you prayed to him as well. Now when she prayed that night probably because of that lecture you gave her, it was as if you prayed along with her. God is very generous and loves to forgive so much more than he dwells on your wrongs. Every right you do counts twice as much as every wrong. And something as simple as getting another to pray, gets you an extra point from God each time they pray. So good job! Not only did you help your friend but you also benefited your self and did a favor to God as well.
