Laws Against Adultrey
Laws Against Adultrey

According to a recent poll, 35% of Americans think that adultery should be illegal. 4% of the people surveyed had no opinion, and 61% thought it should be legal. If you search the statistics, the numbers are really sad, the numbers of cheating spouses is almost scary. Almost half of all marriages involve an extramarital affair. Cheating is becoming more and more accepted, but it still causes just as many problems and hurts just as bad. But I think if it's made illegal, then it could have an impact on society. Less people will resort to cheating because they could go to jail, or if a divorce is involved, the other partner could get more divorce money. Just a thought...

There are other legal actions that someone could take to prosecute their cheating spouse. There is a news story about a woman who couldn't work because of devastation inflicted by her cheating spouse. She sewed him for a lot of money and won. You can sew someone for 'Alienation of Affection.' But there is actually a lot of debate online whether or not it is illegal in any states.

I dont think that could be illegal. Judicial branch could say its illegal because of the right of "life" a person could say that they wanted to have a kid with their sexual partner and thats why they slept with them and law cant get in the way of that. Plus if a person wants to do it its their life, they're the ones dealing with the consequences not anyone else. I think that whole thing on cheating spouses is terrible though. One someone gets married they're making a commitment and no one deserves to go through the pain of getting cheated on.

Although I do not support cheating, I don't think this should be illegal. It almost seems ridiculous to make a law. Like others have said you can still sue them anyways and most likely win. I think relationships should be kept more personal and there shouldn't have to be a law telling you what you're doing is wrong. It should be common sense!

I dont think this should be against the law. Its a persons life and sex has just become a normal part of life for everyone. Its wrong but its just the way things are now. And no one should get involved in personal issues like that. If a person gets cheated on they could sue, and although suing wont make a person feel better because its a horrible pain they have to go through. Karma will come back around and get them. Also if a person has religious beliefs its against their religion. God will punish them for adultry. Its part of the ten commandments.

I think affairs should be against the law. But adultry no, itll happen either way sex is just a normal part of our lives now. But if a person has an affair they kind of deserve to get introuble too.

What's the difference between adultery and affair? Aren't they the same thing?

Affair is having sex when your not married. And Adultery is having sex with a person you are not married to but you or them are married. Basically one married person has to be involved to make it adultery. But with an affair there's no cheating.

I think cheating should be against the law. Even if your not the person that is cheating but like your a mistress or something, that should be against the law too. If a husband beats up his wife that's against the law and they get in big trouble, well when he cheats on her he is hurting her even more so why isn't that against the law as well?
