A former county water resource engineering manager stole more than $2 million from government funds to feed his gambling addiction. He set up two dummy companies and produced bogus paperwork stating there were agreements to sell well capacity rights to the county that never existed. Because he had authority he would approve the checks to these companies as long as they were under $25,000 and deposit them into the accounts of the phony companies. He then transferred the money into his own account.
Thanks to him the counties loans for public works projects have higher interest rates. Gambling addiction can lead even the most caring people to be the most selfish.

Thats so horrible. I've heard of many stories where the whole family had to suffer because of a family members gambling addiction but with this guy the whole county has to suffer. Thats really sad. I wonder what really goes on through their heads, I mean I'm sure they know its wrong and they know that this is soooo much money that they're stealing. They're going to end up getting caught.

My mom works for a band, and she had to attend a seminar that would educate tellers about fraud. They gave a story about a man who would somehow get the keys to foreclosures owned by banks and would pose as the landlord. He rented out these homes to families and would collect the first payment, and then they would never see him again. Eventually the banks would find out that there were people living in the house and it would cause a huge mix up and the families would be homeless. I thought this was so heartless, how a person could be so money hungry, it's ridiculous!

Thats so sad! Its crazy what extreme measures gambling addicts take just to fuel their addiction. Even drug addicts dont go that far. Gambling addicts, steal from their friends, families, work, and in your stories damage other peoples lives!!!

There's actually been many gambling addiction stories that I've heard where people steal money from small businesses and use it to fuel their addiction. The business ends up going bankrupt and there's no way they can get their money back. Its so sad.
