Could You Be Living in a Former Meth Lab?

Could You Be Living in a Former Meth Lab?

In states like Missouri and Illinois, which are considered to be the heart of America's meth labs, families are finding out that their home may have been a former meth lab.  After police busts, clean up crews may not always get everything left over, and these houses are still testing positive for meth residue.  What's scary is that it never goes away.  And bringing children into a toxic environment like that is extremely dangerous.
Homesellers and rentors routinely violate codes that enforce them to inform residents that they're moving into a former meth lab.  Residents have nowhere to easily find out whether a home was ever a meth lab, unlike other states that publish lists of addresses and flag property records.  Apparently one in five houses come back positive, so people in this region of the country need to be extra careful when purchasing or renting property.

I think if I found out that I was living in a former meth lab, I would move out as soon as possible.  Money is a huge factor yes, but still it's not worth jeopardizing your families health.  It's important to know the ins and outs of a house before buying, or even renting.  You can't just move in and then find all of these problems.  Especially in parts of the country that have high populations of meth labs, you have to be extra cautious.

When buying a house you should always hire an inspector to inspect everything. My family just bought a new house and it looked perfect. There didn't seem to be anything wrong with it and it seemed like the former neighbors took very good care of it. The only problem is that its a huge backyard and they didn't do a good job of keeping it mowed. Well the inspector came and noticed about 15 things that we would've never even thought about checking. The hot water pump was broken and if he didn't notice that we would've had to wait 20 minutes with the shower on until we got some warm, not hot, water. the grass in the backyard was so long that the sprinklers were underground and couldn't come out anymore. he noticed some carpet stains that were covered up with furniture and various things. An inspector could find out if there was a former meth lab and that could prevent you from buying the house in the first place.

My grandparents bought a house like 20 years ago and lived in it for 15 years. it was a big big house, about 3 stories high and 7 bedrooms plus 3 living rooms and a huge indoor and out door patio. Well when they sold it they had some very eager buyers. But the buyers got it inspected. There was a blood stain in the indoor patio, and a big big blood stain, obvious from a murder. They did some tests and the blood stain was from 30 years earlier so it was obvious my grandparents weren't apart of this and had nothing to  do with it. The former owners were already dead too (they were old). I dont know what happened with that whole thing but atleast the new buyers knew about it now. They still bought the house and they're very happy with it. but its amazing what inspectors could find.
