That's pretty crazy, 14 more!? I thought our economy was in a recession, why would we need more casinos..? I think they should build a couple treatment centers, that's what we really need. I'm sure the state of California gets a lot of money from the tax dollars spent at the casino, but in the long run, it's not good for the citizens.

Aren't casinos separate than normal companies because they are Indian owned and on their reserve. Although the economy is in a recession I think this is completely different and I wonder if people actually go there more trying to win money to be able to pay their bills. This isn't looking good though for the state because what is the statistic?? If you live within 50 miles you are more likely to become addicted to gambling.

I had a friend who really needed to pay her car payment and all she had was $100. She gambled and won a lot and basically won the rest of her car payment plus allowance for the next 2 weeks! She started gambling a lot from then and for a while she was winning, she was there everyday of the week. But then she started losing ALOT! she was smart enough to quit right then though before things got worse for her.

There are actually a lot of people who turn to gambling when they have to pay their bills. They may not have enough to pay so they gamble in hopes of winning. Now imagine if they lose, they're in a pickle then!

Casinos aren't the only way to gamble, there are other ways to take chances with money. Betting on sporting events is a common addiction, and many families have lost tons of money because of a single family member. Also putting money in the stock market can be a gamble when you're doing it when money is tight. It can be a big risk, especially with the economy.

I heard this guy in CA was going to a casino and trying to sell his used lotto tickets. He had a method of looking like they weren't scratched and making his money back. He has a warrant out for his arrest and police are trying to find him. It's crazy what people think to do.

lol selling a used lotto ticket? How would he make them look like they weren't scratched? Thats interesting!
I heard of people selling XBox boxes for like $600 when the Xboxes just came out. They would ebay them and then at the bottom they'd write in small writing, "this is just a box" Many people wouldn't pay attention to that part and they actually sold them. Same thing with the PS3's and the Wiis
