Sadness and Overspending

A recent test study showed that sad test subjects were willing to spend four times as much on a nonessential item.  Maybe going shopping when you feel sad is like going to the grocery store on an empty stomach- a really bad idea..!

I cheer up a lot when I go shopping. I forget the thing that was on my mind before. And I jsut stay really excited bout the merchandise I just bought and when I'm going to wear it. I just sit there and picture my self in it. I'm a big day dreamer too hehe so imagine how much fun I have with that.

I'm the same, I get happy when I buy things. But then I get happy again when I wear the things I buy. Its like christmas, you get happy when you buy your friends and family presents because your excited to get your own. And then your excited to open your presents.

It's helpful to go shopping when feeling stressed or sad about something, but it's only wise to do it when you can't control something.  If you're shopping in order to avoid your problems, then that's not good.  But if you're just feeling sad for whatever reason, maybe relationship issues, then shopping can be good therapy.

I think shopping when your sad is bad. Your only going to feel happy for a little while and then whatever is bothering you will come back and then redoing that shopping spree again will make you feel better again and the whole scenario just keeps repeating its self. I believe the best time to go shopping is when your happy! Plus when you shop while your happy you find nicer things, brighter things, and ot just makes your whole day so much better! If you end up getting sad at the end of the day or anything during the week for whatever reason it doesn't even matter because you could think of the nice stuff you just bought and still feel that excitement that you'd get if you just went shopping.

I've been thinking a lot about this subject and I know so many friends that spend so much money on clothes and expensive things because it makes them feel better about themselves. I think my friends need to look deeper into the problem though. It's so obvious to outside people that they are trying to fill a void in their life or trying to boost their self esteem, but buying things aren't going to fix their problems. I heard the other day that 17-28 million Americans over shop. What does this say about our country? Also it said that credit card companies aren't helping either because they estimated that about each man, woman and child received around 30 credit card offers in one single year. I know I get a ton of offers, but I shred them because I already have the credit cards that I need.

I only have one credit card and I think that is more than enough! I already have a tough time paying it off and I only use it when I have no money in my checking. But when I first got it I spend a lot on it and basically maxed it out. That was my big problem. But I'm also the type of person who always has to buy expensive things or brand names. I feel strange if I'm not wearing anything brand name. Especially if its a purse!

When you are feeling sad then you can go for shopping. It is really very good idea. But do not make it addiction. Go foter shopping only if it is necessary. Spending money on unnecessary things and go for shopping daily is not good it is an addiction. It is better to concern a counselor who will solve your problem of shopping addiction.
