Keith Jerome Tarver died less than one month after his prison release. He had no luck getting a job so his brother paid him $100 to mow his lawn, pull weeds and clear brush. His brother said he did this to keep money in his pocket and to keep him out of trouble. Tarver was determined to stay clean. He had a drug addiction for years and about six years ago he found god and studied to be a preacher but relapsed into addiction. Around that time he was arrested for armed robbery, burglary, and grand theft auto. He got caught trying to steal bleachers from a baseball field and loading them into the back of a stolen car. He was sentenced to five years in state prison. But he was focused on staying sober and getting his life back on track. He wanted to get a proper drivers license and work with his brother as a truck driver, but till then he was doing yard work. Last weekend he worked till 5 P.M. and finished for the day, he was going to finish the yard on Sunday. He said he was going to shower up and take a little ride on his bicycle. He left around 6 P.M. a few hours later while his brother was lying on a bed he heard a flurry of gun shots and then banging on the window. Tarver had run around to the front entrance and collapsed. He was yelling “I got shot, I got shot.” He was shot on the torso and the leg. Paramedics could not save him.
This isn’t really a nice recovery story, but I decided to put it on here to show how even once you’ve sobered up some may not be as lucky as others and their past still may follow them and hunt them down. And the ones who don’t have a situation such as this should be very grateful and stay sober forever.

This story is so sad! I think its really ridiculous how people just go kill others because of their anger, or as a grudge like gang members do. It horrible and they're so heartless to not think about how the person they killed family would feel. Murder is one of the things God never forgives you for and I love that God made that rule because murder is such  a selfish act. But God is with him and he helped him stay sober, he died sober and I'm sure he wouldn't have wanted it another way.

Poor man, he really didn't deserve that, and his family they are devastated I'm sure.  It took me a very long time to no longer be associated with drugs.  For a year and a half I was mostly working and keeping to myself, and I slowly started making new friends.  And eventually my old friends saw that I had better things to do than chill with them and do drugs.
It took my cousin a few years for people to stop bugging him.  He made a lot of money dealing drugs and he had to move away to basically start a new life.  Thankfully he was never in a gang but his family got a few calls with gangs threats.
