The availiability of oxy is getting lower and the prices are increasing to over $80 per pill.  However, the cost of a hit of heroin remains cheap at only $4.  Oxy addicts and prescription drug abusers 18-26 are the primary users moving to heroin.  Kids in rich white collar suburban neighborhoods are turning into heroin addicts to escape withdrawals and parents and family members can't react fast enough.

How is it possible that family members aren't reacting fast enough?  If my son or daughter wer taking oxycontin, I think I would be able to tell.  Our generation has more freedom than ever, but kids are taking advantage of it and parents are letting them.  Oxycontin is such a horrible drug and heroin is an even worse one.  Nothing good can come from drug addiction and people need to realize that.

My parents are the most observant parents you can imagine. But you'd surprised how many times I've gotten away drunk infront of them, or high of weed, or vicodin, or oxycontin. I dont think you'd be able to tell. And just like with these parents they weren't able to tell untill their kid was addicted and not good at hiding it anymore. by then its too late and they turn to heroin. I think this is so sad though because heroin is one of the hardest addictions to recover from.
