Here are some email statistics from around the U.S.:

NY: 61% of users say they check their email from the bathroom!

70% say they check it while they are in the pjs in bed, 60% in a restaurant, 39% while driving, 30% on a date, and from church 21%.

Houston: Here, 73% of people check their email from the bathroom, 78% in bed, 75% in a restaurant, 55% while driving, same 30% on a date and 30% from church. 51% say they are hooked on email, surpassing the national average of 46%.

Los Angeles: 12% had checking email from their family, 39% check it in the middle of the night, 47% check it from the bathroom, 64% in bed, 67% in a restaurant and 18% while on a date.

Wow, it seems like the statistics don’t change all that much throughout each city. Email addiction is really affecting people and their relationships with their family. It seems like work takes over these people and they must check their email even on the toilet!

it annoys me when you are out on a date or with some friends and someone is constantly texting or emailing on their phone. it makes me feel like im boring or they are not interested in me.

It's funny when you see a couple and they're both on their cell phones.. what's the point of being together when you're not even paying attention to each other??

Here are some signs I found online if you think you may have this:
1. You check your email more than once an hour, even when you aren't on the clock
2. You look at every message that comes in, as it comes in, either at or away from your office
3. You feel the need to respond to messages instantly or within minutes of when they arrive
4. You interrupt real, in-person activities on a regular basis to deal with an email
5. Email has interfered with your regular life. Ex. sleep loss, relationship troubles, stress or any other noticle effect.
