Former guitarist of The Door's just opened his own chemical dependency clinic, focused on helping artists and performers with their addiction. He said he started drinking at 13 and became sober at 41. He believes that drugs took away some opportunities he would have had as a musician. "It was the '60s, Woodstock. You felt left out if you didn't drink and take drugs. There was a lot of peer pressure, and I tried everything," said Benno. He later started out as a counseling intern and now he opened his own place to try and help others. What a great story he has to share with so many other people. I think this is great.

This is a wonderful recovery story.  He's doing the right thing, we need to give back to the recovery programs that have helped us.  Also, it's important to let others know about recovery and that it can work if you really commit to it.  There are a lot of misconceptions today about how recovery doesn't work, and once and addict, always an addict and it's simply not true.

I think its really great when someone sobers up and recovers, all those stories are amazing. But when its someone famous its even better because a lot more people look up to him and may want to follow into his footsteps.
