1. Get rid of all cigarettes, ashtrays and lighters
2. Start an exercise program - Exercising relieves stress and will help your body recover quicker after years of nicotine abuse.
3. Deep breathing – Breathe deeply through your nose every day for 3-5 minutes. Hold the breath for a few seconds and exhale again slowly through your mouth. It may work better with your eyes closed
4. Clean your teeth – With either whitening strips or through your dentist
5. Reward yourself – After reaching a milestone of even quitting for a week treat yourself to something. You can use the money you saved from not buying cigarettes
6. Drink water – It reduces cravings to smoke and the water will help to flush out toxins left in your body from the nicotine and other chemicals found in cigarettes.
7. Know your triggers – If you always smoked while drinking soda-stop drinking soda
8. Hold something – Hold anything else instead of the cigarette. Some people found this to work
9. Photos – Keep pictures of your loved ones around you for support and remembering that if you continue to smoke you won’t be around them as long.
10. Resistance – Resist smoking!! You will get cravings, but it gets better with time.
Good luck!!
