Apparently now more than one in four Americans are obese.  And the South tips the scales again as the fattest region.  Colorado was the least obese, with 19 percent fitting that category.  Mississippi has the highest obesity rate, along with Louisiana, Alabama, West Virginia, and Tennessee.  To me, these numbers are pretty scary, because the report said the rates for children are similar.

I hope this trend of obesity is going to level out soon and eventually start to decrease.  Trends in America generally flow to other countries too.  It seems like some states are trying to become healthier and emphasize more physical fitness and even diet plans for overweight students.

America is actually really spoiled compared to other countries. We have all those fast food restaurants ALLL over the place. We have all those microwave dinners, canned foods, frozen vegetables, frozen pizza, frozen so many things. Were basically eating away so many calories with no nutritional benifits. And if your not genetically lucky with fast metabolism then obesity is a bite away.

It's all about moderation and eating right.  Even people with a fast metabolism can be overweight.  It's important to learn healthy eating habits as a child.  My parents always told me I was a good eater, they always encouraged me to eat until I was full, not stuffed.  But I was also encouraged to play sports and as a result ended up with an athletic figure.  Kids learn a lot from their parents, especially the same sex role model.

This is why it's so important to make sure you're being a healthy role model for your children, especially daughters.  If girls can't look to their moms for direction, then they're going to look at all of the wrong places and people for help.  Especially to fashion and super models, but it's really not up to these people to be role models.  If you think about it, women who publicize and patronize these models are the ones who make the industry bad, not the models.  And young girls are influenced by all of this and it's terrible.
Our thoughts create our reality.

I understand there's a lot of fast food places everywhere and also so many choices of frozen dinners and such, but it's still a personal choice for every person to maintain a healthy body.  A friend of mine has been trying to loose weight for a number of years and she exercises almost everyday, but she can't get over her appetite.  She eats all day and snacks a lot.  I keep encouraging her, but I can't make her choices for her.  Sometimes she can't decide between two items what to eat, so she eats both.

Sometimes exersise doesn't help people either. I have a friend who eats a normal amount of food and she exersises so much everyday! She wont go a single day without going to the gym and running 2 miles. But she's still overweight and she seems to gain everytime I see her. I think its just the way your body works.
