what's your take on peeping toms? do you think they have an addiction to pleasuring themselves and the thrill of trying to seek their next victim? I received a letter on my door last night from a neighbor who said they had a peeping tom at their house. who knows how long he had been watching them and it turns to find out he's already been to jail for sex related crime. a couple nights ago he snuck into the victims home and went into the 2 teenage daughters rooms and left a note. that's how they caught him, but he's already been released. I remember when I was younger a similar thing happened and my mom wouldn't let us change in our rooms and keep the blinds closed. I was just wondering what you think makes people this way..? Do you think they got raped or something when they were younger or it just excites them?

Ususally someone who will go to that extent to get a sexual arousal usually has some type of mental disorder.  It's about impulse control, somewhat like an addiction.  Thank God I've never had to deal with anything like that, but there was one man who refused to leave me alone.  He met me through my church, and he would call me everyday inviting me to parties in LA and free make up giveaways.  It was really weird, I was seventeen at the time and my mom called the police to file a report and told this guy to get lost and leave me alone sicne I was a minor.  He refused, and it took the police going to his house and my moms boyfriend threatening him to get the point that he had no choice other than to leave me alone.
Typically peeping toms won't take their infatuations to physical assault, but there's always the danger of them snapping one day.  Women need to be really cautious everywhere they go.  My mom always tells me lock your doors and be careful just in case.

I think the weird thing about peeping toms is for the most part they aren't dangerous when it comes to the weapon aspect. I don't think they are out to kill, but get arousal from starring at people changing which is dangerous for the victim.  I think if you believe you have a peeping tom change in your bathroom instead of your room or in your room with the lights out so they can't see in as well.

my mom always told us to keep our blinds closed when we changed and I never gave it much thought. Like out of all the windows in the nieghborhood why look through mine??? But I guess I was wrong and this is a bigger deal than I thought it to be. I dont think these people need to be traumatized to be like this, maybe sometimes but not all of them. I think its a mental disorder.

Yeah, there's definately something wrong with that.  One of my friends has a peeping tom in her neighborhood and he tried to sneak into the girls room one time.  It just takes that one time for them to start getting violent do something instead of just watching.

I read a story in the news today about a sex offender who was on parol and had just got released from prison.  He was doing really good, but slipped one night when he was peeping into a girls window and was arrested.  It's like an addiction to them, as an alcoholic could slip up and have a drink, similarly a sex addict can slip up and have a peek.  It's a scary thought, even though we live in a safe neighborhood, we still have screen metal doors and bars to double lock the back patio.  You just never know these days..
