How to Keep a Job with Bipolar?

My little sister was diagnosed with this like 5 years ago and she has probably gone through about 10-15 jobs in the last year-year and a half. Is there something we can do to help her? She has medication for it, but perhaps it's not the best one for her??

When I was battling bouts of depression, I was in therapy at least twice a week because I really couldn't afford to lose my job, but I was going through a lot of emotional trauma also.  It ended up helping me a lot, because I couldn't always rely on my family to help me with my problems.  I went through 3 therapists until I finally found mine, but I'm glad that I did.  She helped me realize a lot of things and why I was feeling so terrible.  I don't fully know what bipolar is but I heard in severe cases, it can lead to suicide, I think if she's been diagnosed with the condition, she should consider a therapist or at least medication to keep her stabilized because getting a new job can be stressful for any person.

I think maybe being honest with your employer would help your situation. Isn't it discrimination if they don't hire you because of a disability like that? Maybe they can work with you somehow and help you work around your struggles.

My friend is bipolar and it gets hard at her job because her coworkers aren't very understanding.  They automatically assume she's just a mean person and call her names.  But her bosses are really understanding, which is good.  People with bipolar have good and bad days, but if you're in a stressful workplace that triggers your disorder, then it'd be better to find a more pleasant job setting.

I dont think it should be allowed for you to lose your job over something like this. A person cant help what disorder they have. They should however continue taking their medication and also go to therapy to help out.
