Hi everyone,
I am new to the site.  I have been taking Lortab and Darvocet on and off for a little over a year due to chronic gout pain.  I started taking as prescribed, developed tolerance and took a little more here and there, eventually stealing them from friends and family medicine cabinets.  I have come clean with them about this and they are very supportive of me.  I have been forgiven for my theft, but I can't seem to forgive myself for it.  I have been off pain meds for about 2 weeks now with only minor withdrawals.  I never needed this medication, I don't understand it.  I didn't have to take it daily, weekly or monthy, but when I was stressed, it was like a stress reliever.  I abused them, not sure if it was an addiction.  You will all be hearing more from me, just want to get my foot in the door and be around people who have the same problems.
thanks,
jrod

That's sooo good that you decided to quit.  I'm glad you have a supportive family to count on.  I didn't really have the guts to come clean to my parents, instead I kept it to myself and it made things 1 million times harder for me.  I didn't have withdrawals so much, but the cravings held me back a lot.  I'm still in recovery, but a completely different person than I was a month ago.  Well, it's nice to have you here by the way!

its really good that you stopped before your addiction became serious. You could've been doing much more than stealing a few pills here and there. Have you heard those stories about all those peple who steal from pharmacies to clench their cravings.
