Talking to Pregnant Women About Alcohol

I went to my friends graduation dinner last weekend and there was a lot of drinking involved by a lot of the guests, which is pretty common now at graduation celebrations... But anyways, the thing that bothered me is that my friends cousin, who is pregnant, was drinking beer.  At first I didn't think any of it but she said a couple things that made it obvious that she was pregnant.  She only had one beer, but still, it bugged me.  I always understood that it's really important not to drink at all when you're pregnant, especially in the first couple of months.  I figured her boyfriend would say something, but he obviously didn't care at all.  So is it my place to say something, or should I just leave it alone?  People have different opinions about smoking/drinking while pregnant.

If it were me, I probably would've called her out, but I'm such an outspoken person... it might not work for everyone.  Since you don't know her directly, maybe you should talk to your cousin first, so that he can mention something to her.  Having one beer always leads to another beer and so on...  And you have no idea how many occasions she drinks.  I'd definitely say something, she has no idea what even a sip of alcohol can do to her baby.

Yeah, I agree that you should say something about it. drinking during your pregnancy is not a good thing to do and how could you live with yourself if something happened to your baby because of your actions. You need to be aware of what could happen. I just read yesterday that they found a link between drinking during your first trimester and adolescent obesity. Drinking can do so many things to your body and your baby when they don't even have a choice.
