Alcoholic Seizure

This opened up my eyes more than anything. A close friend of the family recently had a seizure due to his alcoholism.  He was getting into bed and fell into a seizure and his wife started pumping his chest in fear of his erratic breathing.  He had been trying to quit and may have fell into a withdrawals which caused the seizure.  Now he drinks low alcoholic beer and is weening himself off it alcohol.  He says he's sharper now and has more energy.  I nearly started crying when I heard about this, but I'm glad this was a wake up call for him and his poor wife is now happy that he's changing.

Wow, that would be scary. I feel bad for his wife to see something like that and have to react so fast to try and save her husbands life. I hope he quit and better his life.

Seizures can be serious sign of withdrawl I used to drink heavily but never had a seizure however I definitely needed help in order to get off alcohol and stay off of it I tried to quit drinking by myself for about 15 years without much success.I needed detox center and AA Groups and as a result I haven't drank for 4 years. Treatment saved my lifeMost alcoholics will drink again even if they have quit for a long time if they do not continue a long term theraphy program.Good luck to your friend.

I can't imagine having withdrawals that bad.  Hopefully he's okay now.  That would definitely be an eye opener for me.  My dad drinks a lot, but I doubt he would have withdrawals, maybe depression but I don't think he is physically addicted.  He still needs help though. :(
