"At least they're doing it at home"

While growing up, I heard a lot of my friends say that their parents let them drink at home once in a while.  The parents claim, at least they're doing it at home and I know they're not driving around and getting into trouble.  But this only seems okay to the parents because alcohol is a normal thing in their lives, so if their kids drink too, it's no big deal.  But this same reasoning applies to drugs too in some households.  Now that authorities are cracking down hard on meth houses, they're finding the conditions some kids are in.  One family that was busted gave their kids meth for christmas presents.  One mom would do meth with her kids and claim, at leas they're doing it with me at home.  I can't understand this, but as I can see, meth takes away your reasoning, all of your emotions.  Once they get their kids taken away, it's a wake up call, but sometimes it's too late.

"Gee thanks mom, meth!  What a great present!"  Can you imagine... these poor parents don't realize the damage they're doing to their kids.  I think almost all parents would feel genuinely bad for getting their kids taken from them and it would be a wake up call for them.

I just posted something about this and how parents give their children alcohol at home and for grad parties. Just because they are drinking at home, doesn't make it ok. The other kids still have to drive home so it's not your child, but someone elses. It's dumb, wait to drink until you are of age. The reason why so many teens are drinking is because it's so easy to get in your hands.

I don't get what makes these parents think that their kids aren't drinking other places besides their own home.  The best way to teach your kids about drinking is to have one or two drinks at the most and show that it's still fun to drink and keep your composure.  The goal of drinking is not to get drunk.  And if you don't want your kids to become alcoholics, then the first step is to be an example.  A party mom is not going to be there for their kids when they need them the most.

I think most teens mindsets are well if my parents let me drink at home then why can't I drink here? It's really ridiculous that parents are doing this and it really isn't teaching them any good lessons. How can we keep drugs and alcohol out of our kids hands if we keep supplying it for them. Too many young drunk drivers die or kill innocent people. How is that okay?

one of my friends parents in high school didn't car what she did. She could go out whenever she wanted do what ever she wants everything. She was allowed to stay the night at her boyfriends in 9th grade! And they let her drink. The only rule for her was no drugs and no drinking and driving. She told us a story once where she was at a party really far away and she was really drunk so she called her parents to come pick her up, they said they were sleeping and for her to just sleep in her car and drive in the morning. Can you believe that????

I dont know how any parent can be so careless like that. They're helping their child develop and addiction. And what makes them think that since they're doing at home they're not going to do it else where too??
