We all know who Charles Barkley is, but were you aware of his gambling addiction? According to the national media reports, he just lost another $450,000 in Vegas! He admitted to it in 2006 on ESPN and told everyone he has lost anywhere between $50-60 MILLION in the past 12 years. "My agent has really worked with me to try to get it where I can go and gamble and have fun, then leave," he said. "That's easier said than done, however." That is a lot of money to lose from gambling. Many people don't even see that much in their life time let alone gamble it away in 12 years.

That's so much money! People should donate it to a charity instead of just throwing it all away. I couldn't imagine having that much and losing it so fast.

Just because he's rich and can afford to gamble with that much money, it doesn't justify anything.  In that interview you're referring to, he both admits and denies that he has a gambling problem.  He says, "Yeah, I have a gambling problem but I don't consider it a problem because I can afford to gamble.  It's just a stupid habit I've got to get control over because it's just not a good thing to be broke after all these years."  Since when is one's ability to afford a 'habit' proof that it's not a serious problem?  Amy Winehouse can afford to pay for crack, does this mean she doesn't have a problem?
