A nurse is being arrested for stealing drugs from a hospital vault. Dawn smith had gone on a small shopping spree in an area she was not authorized to be in. last Friday she left her assigned floor and went into the hospitals drug vault. She used a password and biomedic fingerprinting technology to enter the vault. She took vial after vial of Zofran, Benadryl, morphine, and Demerol using the names of patients in the hospital and all these patients were not under her case. She now claims she no longer has the drugs and is in a cell at the hospital until they can transfer her to jail.
What I don’t get is Zofran is used just to stop vomiting, and Benadryl is an over the counter medication. So why would she have to steal those? I understand the morphine and Demerol since they’re addictive but not the others. I wonder if she kept them for her or is selling them… interesting!!

That is really weird, but who would buy Benadryl from a dealer when they could just go to the store to buy it?  Hmm, maybe she was heavily on drugs and decided to pull some illegal bs.  It makes me mad when people in medicine abuse their authority.

she was most likely using the zofran and benedryl (iv) and injecting it with the narcotics.  iv opiates can make you nauseated and also really itchy, and these drugs will prevent both.  sometimes nurses are too smart for their own good.  ;)

Hhaa this is true.  I work in a laboratory and I just don't understand what some doctors are thinking.  Nurses sometimes know more than doctors and are experts at ordering the right tests for patients, which makes my job easy!
