A 12 year old girl died off of a methadone overdose after taking pills from a 15 year old boy. The boy took the pulls from his father’s drawer, he knew what they were. He brought them to the girl, Dana Marie Regan, him and his friend took 2 pills while the girl took four. He felt sick and went home and left Dana with his friend. She was found dead the next day.
Methadone is best known as a prescription drug that curbs heroin addiction but increasingly is prescribed as a painkiller. The number of methadone deaths nationwide rose from 786 in 1999 to 4,462 in 2005.

Wow that's a really big difference!  I'm just starting to realize how many people take methadone.  It's like everyone got so obsessed with meth, everyone was using, and now we're getting all of the after effects.  First it was meth babies, now it's gonna be methadone babies and methadone labs.

I think you got methadone mixed up with methamphetamine. you cant really have a methadone lab, thats for crystal meth. But they both are getting so abused. What I dont understand though is how are all these people abusing methadone when it doesn't even give you a high?? Your body just gets physically addicted to it because it starts needing it, but metnally it doesn't give you a high.

Methadone can give you one of the most extreme highs physically and mentally it is synthetic heroin, it is one of the most powerful opiates in production today. Invented for the treatment of withdrawal of painkillers but has been used more and more often by doctors for extreme pain management. It can also be a very dangerous drug I lost my 19 yr old sister in 2001 and my wife this year 2008 to methadone overdose so be very care with the use and mixture if you are to ever have to take it.

I'm so sorry for your loses Damone, my heart goes out to you!  Methadone is a terrible drug, and nobody wants to admit it.  It's worse than heroin IMO..

I'm sorry for your loss also Damone. Thats really sad. I just posted up a forrum a few minutes ago about how heroin was first synthesized to stop morphine addicts. It turned out to be much worse than morphine. And heroin was thought of as a "heroic drug" thats where it got tis name from. I think methadone is now taking the same toll as heroin did. It is now being greatly abused, even by little 15 year old kids as larryking just pointed out. It's extremely deadly and I think it should be banned just like heroin was. How many more lives does america have to lose untill they realise its doing much more harm than good.
