Alcopop taxes going UUUP
Alcopop taxes going UUUP

It’s been all over the news that the government wants to higher the taxes on alcopops to lower binge drinking, but do you guys think it’ll really work? Basically the drinker will be getting a much better deal by buying wine than these alcopops. I think that this will just make things worse. At least when teens are drinking the alcopops they’re getting lower doses of alcohol than if they’re drinking beer and hard liquor which they would be otherwise drinking because it’s cheaper. They for sure aren’t going to just stop drinking because one of their favorite drinks got expensive. What’s your response?

This law is mostly affecting girls because that's all they drink! Most girls don't like the taste of beer and prefer not to take shots, they'd rather chill out with a wine cooler or some form of alcopop. I hardly think making new laws is going to affect the sales, everything is going up in price now.

I agree everything is going up now. And if they want to buy alcohol they're going to either way. Instead of having something to sip on that tastes good and gets you drunk they'll probably take a few shots get way more drunk and drink a soda on top of it.
