Iowa defense lineman, Cody Hundertmark was arrested on Thursday morning for possession of alcohol under the legal age. He is a 19-year-old freshman who played in six games last season, with two tackles. This is the 15th Iowa football player arrested within the last year!

Wow 15 is so many. They should try and enforce rules or something to prevent it. It is so sad when college students or their athletes get involved with harmful substances that can ruin their chances of achieving something better for their lives.

Yes, you're right, they need some stronger consequences for these kids.  It's really up to the coaches also to set the standards for these players.  When I was doing cheer at my college, the girls on the squad weren't allowed to party or have boyfriends because of the distraction and also our reputations.  You have to remember that whenever you're in a sport, you're representing your team and your school.  You're not just out there playing for yourself, it's a team effort and it can't be made up of weak links.

I dont think consequences are really gonig to stop them. They're football players, thats what they enjoy in life. They have a good game, grab a bunch of drinks, party up, get some girls and its a satisfactory night. I had a friend who was a football player about 7 years ago, and whenever he would get a touch down his own dad would buy him a keg. I thought that was ridiculous that a parent would ever do that. But thats what happens. I think its just up to the person to care enough about the consequences to not attempt anything, but if they just want to drink nothing will get into their way.
