Lose Your Job Over a Cigarette?
Lose Your Job Over a Cigarette?

In Indianapolis, 39 factory workers were suspended after they lied about smoking. The Whirlpool Corp. factory suspended the 39 workers after they signed insurance paperwork claiming they don't use tobacco and then were seen smoking or chewing tobacco on company property. Now, some could be fired for lying. As annual health care premiums rise more than 10 percent a year, many companies are trying to rein in costs by encouraging healthy living. I would be pretty ticked if I were suspended without pay for smoking a cigarette, but I can sort of understand where the factory is coming from...

I think the factory has good intentions but I dont think they should fire them. I mean tobacco isn't illegal so they shouldn't have the right to fire them you know.
