How do you get a person who doesn't really have any intention to quit smoking quit? My fiance smokes almost 3 packs a day and its hard for him to stop because all his friends smoke too. His friends definately are not understanding either, so if he tells them not to smoke around him they still would. But they're great guys and I dont want him to stop being friends with them. But I really want to talk him into quitting, I dont know what to say to him though. All he tells me is that he will quit just not now.

Try showing him pictures of what his lungs are going to look like in a few years.  Three packs a day is too much, that's definately not normal.  Also, if people in his family don't smoke, then his chances of developing cancer are much greater.  Does he play sports, or anything like that, tell him that smoking isn't doing anything for him, only bringing him down in the long run.  But you have to remember that quitting cigarettes is harder than quitting heroin, so you have to be soo supportive.
To have more, become more.

I think just keep telling him how much he means to you and how you want a future together and him not dying early. I think people who try to quit their addiction need all the love and support they can get from their loved ones. If his friends are going to continue to smoke though, that is a problem because he will always be tempted whenever they are around each other. Does he even want to try the patch or anything because at least with those types of products he is still get the nicotine each day, but the dosage gets smaller and smaller? My dad's girlfriend tried to quit and was going to the doctor to get things to help her, but since my dad smokes she could never quit. It's a tough situation.

I would keep nagging to him. Talk to his friends also, if your friends with them also try getting them to quit maybe they could all quit together.
