My mother was addicted to smoking. It ended with her dying of lung cancer. I'm also addicted to smoking cigarettes. Losing your parent because of an addiction is very traumatic. I'm changing my life for the better. Please if you have an addiction get it under control. Your child could be the next one posting in this forum!

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother, I'm so overwhelmed when I think about either one of my parents dying.  My dad is an alcoholic, however he isn't nearly as bad as he used to be.  I don't fear of him dying of alcohol poisoning, but I do worry about him getting behind the wheel of his car.  He claims he is a functional alcoholic and that he can drive better than most people even when he's drinking.  It's ludacris, but it's the path he chose to live his life and honestly, I could beg and plead with him from today 'till the day I die, but he will not quit drinking.

This bothers me, when people say "I'm a better driver drunk than I am sober" because its not true, you just feel like that because your drunk and you think your down a good job.
