I just saw a truly inspiring movie that is related to shopping in a way. There is the guy who cuts up all his cards, burns all his money, and heads out to live in the wild because he is sick of all the fakeness in the world, and a society who thinks their status is determined by how much money they have and how many fancy things they buy. He even refused a new car from his parents and opted to keep his old clunker. It's a great movie. It makes you think twice about this shopping crazed society we live in.

Ha ! I watched this movie and I was ok with him refusing the new car, but when he lit all his bills on fire I cringed. I guess he just decided that life in society was just not for him, and where he was headed he didn't need money.

Yah, I think there was something a little wrong with him.  I don't see how someone can just simply give up on life like that.  Life is meant to be lived to the fullest!

If I was going off to live in the wild, I still wouldn't get rid of all my stuff I would keep it just incase I want to come home. He doesn't know what he's in for in the jungle! I would also take my partner with me. If she didn't think I was completely insane and leave me by then.

He should've atleast given his stuff to his family, but gave it to them annonymously. And he should've atleast paid his bills so that he has a clear name.. Did he survive in the wild? I would've died I would never be able hunt my own food and cook it my self and oh my gosh with no oven or spices or anything!! that would be a really boring life too.

Sorry to spoil the movie, but yes he died at the end. His only motivation was to prove to himself that he didn't need all of those material things and he was better off without society.  But to survive in the wilderness takes a lot of skill and preperation.  There was one scene where he killed a giant moose, which could be enough meat to feed him for a whole winter, but he had no way to keep the meat fresh and from decaying.  So it all went to waste.  He had no survival skills and I thought he was just kind of a loner for wanting to be by himself and leaving his whole life behind.

I went to a barbeque with my friend and his driver once and his driver really created a tent out of just some random things in the car and by the beach, and we forgot the coals for the barbeque he made a fire out of I dont know what and he just kept surprising us with his skills, now that guy could definately live in the wild with no problems! But I think anyone would be crazy to go and throw away all his money and everything he was blessed with. His parents should've intervented and sent him to a psychiatrist.

If it was just a movie then that would've been pretty interesting. But it's a real story, lol that shouldn't happen in real life! thats taking things way too far!
