I saw this in another thread and it interested me so I researched it.. look at this site if you have a chance. Its so sad what these girls are talking abuot and theyre really being serious!

http://community.livejournal.com/proanorexia

here's one blog I found and there's worse..
"I can't stop shaking, and I'm freezing cold.  It's so hot outside too, it doesn't make sense.  I went out with my mom today and she kept on suggesting different food to eat. I lied and told her I ate lunch, but then she just kept on suggesting snacks.  I ended up getting a small ice cream cone from dairy queen, and I ate like 10 chips.  There were like 7 grams of fat in the chips, and I only ate half the ice cream, and none of the cone.  I feel so sick and mad at myself. I feel disgusting.  I didn't want to eat, but she forced me to. I tried writing in my journal to relax me, but I can't stop shaking to write.  I'm too scared to weigh myself.  I just reached my first goal weight this morning (96lbs). I'm afraid I've ruined it already.  I can never seem to do anything right.  Today sucks."

or this one..

"Well, I was doing good on day one of my water fast, but then this morning I felt like I was going to faint, so I gave in and had a 90 cal granola bar and now I feel fine, but mad at myself.

Does anyone have any strategies to help with water fasting. Like how not to faint? =)"

I searched around on the site also, it's horrible.  Apparently you found the largest in the world, over 1 million posts.... it's really sad.

I think the youtube videos are the worst, there are hundreds of videos that are encouraging to these anorexic/bulimics.  I understand many people view hip bones and collar bones sticking out as beautiful, I understand that but to strive to be at that level at an unhealthy, unreasonable level is sickening.  These sites and videos don't talk about the effects of these diseases, they regard it as a lifestyle but it's not.  It's a mental disease and they don't realize it.
They talk about how miserable they feel after eating two spoon fulls of peanut butter.  Then someone says oh, don't worry, I've ate a whole jaw before.  Then someone says It's okay, just purge it out.. but don't use a Qtip, you could swallow it, use a toothbrush instead.  Then, you could swallow a toothbrush too so stick a string on it... it's sickening!

I read an article today about laws in France being implimented agains the pro-ani sites on the Internet.  The penalties include up to three years in jail and heavy fines.  I completely agree with these laws because the message being sent out is not support, it's death!

but even if some countries do make it illegal many other countries wont, and websites are world wide so any country can access it. I think the whole United Nations would have to get involved with this and put a stop to it with all the countries other wise I doubt we'd have any success.

And they can always come out with new sites after the old ones are banned.  I used to use one of the largest pro ana sites and the people helped me through a lot of my hardest times.  Some have the disease more serious than others, but it's always a daily struggle.  It's weird how other people don't even think twice about food, but with ana, it's like every bite is torture.  I used to feel like food was disgusting and that if I ate it then I was disgusting, it's really an exhausting way of living.

Apparently in Span there are 400 new pro anorexia sites that were found recently.  And their is much debate over whether criminal offenses have been made.  The Spanish-language websites and blogs, mainly read by young women ages 12-28 were discovered by the technology unit of the national police.  One one site there was even a competition for the girls who lost the most weight in 14 days.

It became really obvious that my disorder was getting too hard to control.  At the time my parents were pressuring me to go into an inpatient facility so I did.  I went to three different centers until I finally settled.  I started eating healthy foods and a lot of red meat and I worked out almost everyday.  Even when I started putting on weight, everyone was telling me how good I looked.  I finally felt like a whole person after that.  Some days I get anxiety about eating and gaining, but I'm still in therapy and learning how to control that.

Thats really amazing that you recovered. Food is so delicious and brings joy in life, its sad for anyone to deprive themselves from that. When I turn 55 I'm going to just eat and eat and eat and not worry at all about my weight.
