Psychologists say that video game addictions is like being on drugs. They have the same symptoms as those of gambling addicts and drug addicts. In some gamers, gaming played such a large part of their lives that they missed meals, and went without sleep to spend more time playing. They suffered withdrawal symptoms and had difficulties cutting back on their hobby. And when away from it, they were emotionally instable and had a much lower self esteem.
Have any of you met any gaming addicts? I had a friend a few years ago who would stay up literally all night playing some computer game I forgot the name. He didn’t do it in the morning because his mom would get mad, so he would play while she was asleep and sleep in the morning. After a while though he got out of this habit. But now even though he doesn’t play that many video games anymore he still has problems sleeping normally because his body got so used to such little sleep.

I used to think my brother was addicted to video games.... he would stay up really late at night playing video games and he'd try to get me to play with him.  I hated it, because it's like he wasn't even home.  He didn't even show much emotion when my parents got divorced, and he was getting really bad grades.  I think he grew out of it, but it's like he had to catch up on his social skills lol.

That's good he grew out of it.  It doesn't sound like he was a hard core addict, maybe a little obsessed.  But skipping meals and school is crazy, just for video games!  I'd rather now miss out on life, you never get that time back, it's best to live every day to the fullest.

Thats really true, its sad to see anyone throw away so many years of their life on a video game. They could be out with friends making memories instead of clogged up at home playing a game thats going to end sooner or later.
