Sad Story

I was reading this article that was so sad. It was about these parents that were discussing their sons death. Their son was a student at the University of Puget and always got good grades but was lately acting a little bit off. At times wired and sleepy at others. He was in the same Fraternity that his father was in and dated a girl from the same one that his mom was in.
And when one day his parents were waiting for him to come home with an armload of dirty laundry, instead a sheriff showed up at their doorstep. He told them that their son had been found dead in his room by one of his fraternity brothers. An autopsy later revealed he’d ingested a fatal amount of methadone four days before his 20th birthday. This completely did not fit his profile either.
Blonde and confident, he lit everyone up with his megawatt smile. Justin also got high on prescription drugs and had paid a Tacoma bartender "80 for 80", $80 for 80 milligrams of methadone.
It’s totally crazy how these prescription drugs that are meant to help are being abused and instead killing.

Yeah, Aries said before that even the nicest guy can wind up addicted. It's a shame he had to die, he sounded like a nice kid. In college, good grades, happy, but wound up addicted to meth.

Doesn't he have better things to do than get high on meth?  I mean he's in a fraternity, is dating a sorority girl, and it sounded like he was a handsome, cool guy.  I'm imagening if my boyfriend were caught doing $80 worth of methadone, how I'd react.. this is a really sad story.. but it's happening everyday to people.

Just because someone is handsome/beautiful and has a lot going for them, it doesn't mean that they are truly happy people.  Everyone has their demons inside to deal with and unfortunately some poeple are overcome to the point of death or suicide.  I can't imagine what the heck his parents are going though, that's horrible and his poor girlfriend too.  :(

My brother is in college and my parents still keep a veeery watchful eye on him because it's in college where you change the most and become the person you'll be for the rest of your life.  This is very sad though, it seems like methadone is as much a problem as meth.

The think that gets me the most though about meth is that it doens't even get you high!! Like I understand all the other drug addictions because it causes a pleasurable feeling, but really what makes a person keep going back for a drug that they done even get pleasure out of at all. Its like me being addicted to the after effects of broccolli..

I think you're mistaken by this.  Meth is similar to doing cocaine except the affects last a lot longer.  You get an overall really good feeling and you're really alert.  If it was similar to the feeling of brocolli, why would so many people be on the streets craving this drug?  Meth is like the equivalent of crack and cocaine together, so you can imagine the feeling and how addictive it is.

If you think about it 80 miligrams is not that much. like a milliliter is as big as a gram, a miligram is 1/1000 of a milileter. 80 miligrams, thats not that much at all, thats prolly less than a table spoonful, but yet that drug is powerful enough to kill you with just that little.

Although it may not seem like very much, any drug is very dangerous and bad for you. There are so many chemicals in them and sometimes different combos are deadly. I think too when you don't have a high tolerance for something, even if the same amount doesn't harm the person next to you, doesn't mean that it won't harm you.

For a while I really really wanted to try ecstacy, all my friends told me I should only take one and that I could over dose if I take more and that I have to drink water throughout it but at the same time I cant drink too much water just a bunch of stuff like that. I didn't do it I was too scared. But my friend took one and a half and he got really really sick, my other friend took 2 and a half and she's smaller than him, she was fine just had a nice high. So I think it really does depend on your body and however much your body can take.

80 miligrams really isn't a lot at all though. I guess that drug really is that strong! But I do agree that everybodys bodies react differently. One person could handle it while he on the other hand couldn't. But what I dont get is, methadone doesn't really give you any high, your body just becomes addicted to it. Its really sad that some people lose their lives to a drug and its even sadder when its a drug that their bodies are just addicted to and they dont even get to enjoy it.
