Recently The New York Times highlighted the growing number of cases of addiction among the older generations (the majority of substances being alcohol, opiates, and cocaine), as well as inadequate treatment for these people. So addiction really is a lifelong struggle for some. I hadn't really thought about how addiction can affect you at any age, its sad.

Anyone can succumb to addiction. Any age, any sex, any race, any walk of life. Some people have an odd condition where they don't get used to a certain exposure over a period of time or at all, they might not be so suceptible to building up resistance to the drugs but it's not something we should toy with.

What amazes me is that it also affects kids who havent even yet hit their teens. It's so sad watching people that young succumb their lives away.

I never imagined old people with addictions. I know ofcourse about teens and young adults even some in their thirties and fortys but I always thought they grow out of it before they become seniors and they dont keep using it... Guess not :-/

I never imagine a senior citizen doing drugs. Even myself I always think that in ten years i'll somehow be over this addiction and be a normal old man with grandkids. Or little kids, I think thats so sad. I see teenagers messing up their lives and being addicted and spending so many of their youth years being troubled with drugs but starting off at that young, before hitting your teen years is just so sad.
