Antidepressants are the most prescribed drug in the world. They are “happiness pills”. But a study in the UK shows that these drugs actually do not work. They tested about six different antidepressants, including Prozac and Seroxat. They conducted a meta-analysis of all 47 clinical trials and submitted it to FDA. The results showed that the results were effective only in a very small group of the most extremely depressed.
I don’t know I don’t really believe all this. Antidepressants have been used for so long and so many people that are on it do feel a lot happier so why is it just this study says that they don’t work? What do you guys think?

I was on them for a while and they made me as loopy as hell. I was practically bi-polar in any sense of the word. They do work differently for different people, some work brilliant, some make you crazy, some are as effective as placebos.

I swore them off. Next time someone dies, I'll just get over it and not mourn them for longer than a week.

I don't know if I believe that they do not work. I would have to wait to see if more studies can prove it. But I do know there are horrible side effects in many anti depressants.

I think they do work. Theres no way they would've every gotten this far if they didn't work.

I think the problem is that you have to find the right pill for the right person. What works for one person may not work as well for the next person. That could be why there are so many antidepressants out there on the market right now (well one of the reasons at least).
