We use a tv guide to select the programs to watch and switch on our tv only during those programs.We have our tv in the bedroom.This means whenever the kids want to take some rest ,they lie on the bed and switch on the tv.They used to watch only a few tv shows before and I didn't stop that ,but now they are doing it regularly and I feel this is spoiling the discipline I tried to put in place.Now I am thinking of moving the tv from the bedroom to the dining room.Will that help ?

I think it should be kept in main lobby so that all the family members may watch it together .

It will not only make all family members close to each other but it make their relationship more better .

I agree, a bedroom is not where I think that a tv should be. I think part of being the responsible adult is to teach your children about responsible Tv watching in a living room or family room, any community room in a home.

I agree with the above comments.The tv shouldn't be in the bedroom.At our place the tv is in the living room.I know my uncle used to skip-lock the channels that he didn't want my cousin to watch ,but these days it doesn't work with this generation getting smarter by the day.

I love watching tv with other people, and i'll only ever go upstairs to watch tv on my own if i want to watch something everyone else doesn't. So I agree, it should be in the living room, where you can all watch it together. Tv doesn't just have to be a mindless distraction, I often find it actually stimulates conversation, rather than killing it.

You could move it to the dining room if you want them to watch it less seeing as they might not want to always stay in the dining room, you should test each room e.g. keep the TV in living room for 1 month and then the dining room for 1 month after you've tested all the rooms put it in the place where you think it worked best for you.

I think it should have a TV room. The whole family can watch together and also you'll be having to share it all together. So when you want to watch your show, they'll be bored and less TV time for them, and when they want to watch theirs less time for you. Also I've noticed its a lot more comfortable to watch TV in a room on a bed, sometimes I dont even watch TV at all in the living room because I enjoy laying down while im watching TV. IT should help!
