Well I have alot of younger siblings and they're always watching TV. It honestly bugs the hell outa me and I don't know what to do to get them to stop doing it! I tried turning it off, moving it, setting times to watch it etc., nothing works though.

Suggestions are welcomed!

Suggest that you all go out and find an activity that you can do together, this might help to keep them interested in other things than the television. You may also pull out some board games and ask them to play. There are a lot of things that can be done. I would unplug it or disconnect the cable or something real easy and make them have to work if they really want to watch it.

The best idea as was already mentioned is find an activity they'll enjoy. When I was younger my Mom would always take us to swimming or get us involved in sports. I played every sport imaginable. Soccer, baseball, hockey, football, basketball, volleyball. Get them involved in things to see what they like.

Try bribing them. I bribe my grandkids. I'll tell them that if they get off the TV We'll play monopoly, or i'll give them ice cream. Things they generally enjoy. It's kind of like a trade off. Now they are use to it and they know that when they get to grandma's house there's much funner things to do than  stay watching TV so they dont even try.

"Break" the TV by slowly lowering the brightness. If you have one of those later TVs that don't have the ability to change settings via the TVs buttons, then do that, and hide the remote.

Then say that you'll call in a man (Close friend they've never met) to fix it.

Rinse, lather, repeat.

Hahahhaa I like the above suggestion :D  I think you should buy a puppy and leave it up to her to train it, walk it, feed it and train it.. Everyone loves puppies so you could give her that to worry about, and she'll get over all the shows that she's obsessed with.

Put parental controls. My parents had parental controls where after 10 PM the whole TV no matter what channel its on would be a blue screen with a pin code. Only if you put in the pin code can you watch TV. My parents didn't do that to try to stop us from watching TV but because we had dish and at that time a lot of porn would come on and they could never stop those channels from coming. If we wanted movie channels, porn is a must also. But I'm sure you could do it to where you have to put in that pin code all day long that way they cant watch.

my best friends parents just cut off all their cable and dish access because her 3 little brothers and sisters did nothing but watch TV. I think thats a bit extreme because its cutting TV access to the whole family even her.

are you parents concerned or care about how much tv they watch? try bringing it up with them and when i was little we would have family meetings to talk about problems that are going on in the house. you shouldnt have to live miserably and neither should they. try and find a middle ground and if that doesnt work disconnect the tv haha
