Aren't there hotlines for kids with addicted parents. I seem to recall that there was some way for kids to get help for their parents by calling some number.

There are hotlines for kids with alcoholic parents, but I've never heard of any for kids with generally addicted parents. But if an addicted parent caught their child calling the hotline, wouldn't that make problems much bigger? The parent would be under the influence and outraged which is never good for the child.

These hotlines are great, I know my brother called on one occasion.  Basically they just talk to you about what is happening and make sure you're not in danger and basically can support you.  They're really a great thing.  Some kids have no one to care for them, no one to talk to about their day... it gives them some hope.  I think if a parent found out, then it could be somewhat of a wake up call more than a thing to get angry over.

I think parents would get angry. What if it lead them to trouble. Especially if they were under the influence, they would be more scared about getting introuble and going to jail then hurting their child when they could just make up with their child the next day.
