You are going to have to find other things that occupy your mind. You could start by strengthening the things you may already have. Spending more time with family, friends, or loved ones (as long as they don't encourage you in addictive behaviors). You can also increase your focus on healthy activities that already interest you. If you like to run, do it more, or find friends to go along with yo. Participate in a  marathon or something. If you like sports, join a local recreational team. If you enjoy reading, find more books, and people to share what you've gained from your readings with. Etc... You can also try a bunch of new things. This is more exciting than trying any type of new drug. You can learn to fly a kite, go fishing, skydiving, start photography, anything! It's all up to you, but there are so many healthy, exciting and fun things to do in this world that will distract you from addictive habits. Hope this helps, and good luck!

What keeps me busy and preoccupied is just staying out of the house. If I want to focus on studying I'll study in the library or if i want to exercise I'll exercise at the gym. I'll meet up with friends for lunch and stuff and try to surround myself with friends. I think this helps a lot. It keeps you so preoccupied that you dont even have much time to think about what your trying to stay away from.

I do a schedule for my self that keeps me so busy that I dont have any time to think about what I'm trying to avoid. Like 8:00-5:00 work 5:00-5:30 cook 5:30-6:00 eat 6:00-7:30 gym. 7:30-9:00 see friends 9:00-10:00 clean... things like that I wont let myself do anything else in between or take much leisure time just so I dont think about it.
