What will it take for the countries around the world to stop and realize just how much of a problem that drug and alcohol addictions along with tobacco addictions really are. When will they step up and say we need to intervien in order to protect our countries and the citizens.

I guess it's the governments's choice to ban or not to ban drug, alcohol and tobacco, i think the government is only keeping drugs, alcohol and tobacco because he is getting a lot of money from it.

Although I agree there is much more government could and should do, the ultimate responsibility lies with the addict. Let's face it, no matter how hard the gov. makes drugs, alcohol, tobacco, etc. to get if someone really wants it they will get it. What I think the gov. should focus on is raising awareness about the disease of addiction, its costs both financially and emotionally, how bad an addict's life can really become, and where people can go for help.

In countries like the UK, where drugs are often glorified and easily accessible, along with cigarettes and alcohol, hardly anyone can afford any sort of rehab program.  In the United States it's a whole lot easier with drug court and welfar to get treatment, but you're right these governments could do a whole lot more.
