Why do drugs effect some and not others?
Why do drugs effect some and not others?

There are some people who use substances on a fairly regular basis and over a prolonged period and experience few, if any, problems as a result.
For others, however, the capacity to control how often and how much is used seems to erode quickly and a more powerful state of attachment or preoccupation with taking the substance develops.
Does anyone know why this is??? Is there a definate reason?

People have different chemical makeups. This effects how a drug might react with someone. Also a persons personality can be related to their level of addiction. Some people are very compulsive and cannot say no to themselves. Especially when food, drugs, or sex is the only thing that makes them even a little happy.
If you think about it, our societies addictions can probably be traced back to how life just sucks.

That is very true, It all depends on the person. Some people know how to control their intake on drugs others just over due it. Like it was stated, we all have a different chemical makeup so it all depends.

I think that no one is immune to the effects its just that some people handle the effects in different ways in the same way that some people are affected more then others by hot or cold for example

This may sound dumb, but i think that some people are naturally stronger and resistant than others. Some people also get drunk easier than others. Some people are just more tolerant.

There are a number of reasons why one drug may have an affect on a person and not on another. chemical differences have a lot to do with that. I am not sure how the changes in chemicals within a persons body reacts to each drug but it is the same as weight and alcohol.
