Do governments do enough to stop drug imports?

The War on Drugs has been going on for many years and it seems as if is more widely available than it was when "the war" started. Do they go after the people that produce it and bring it into all the countries? Take for example Afghanistan...The Opium production has drastically increased due to the war there. That opium is eventually going to find it's way onto the streets of cities around the world. Why do they let it happen? It's almost like they want it to happen.

Quite simply, while there are massive profits to be made on the import of drugs there are people out there who are willing to take the risks and bring them in. Simple economics.

Well of course people do it for the profits but do the government's really care to stop it? Or do they do enough to prevent it? Is it just another one of their never ending "War" slogans. "War of Drugs" "War on Poverty" "War on Terror". It seems whenever there is a war on something we get more of it. There's more drugs now than ever. There's more poverty now than ever. There's sure to be more terrorism.

Very true. When drugs are made a criminal issue, there is massive profits to be made. If they are treated as a health issue and those addicted are treated rather than convicted you have more of a chance.

I have even seen video of ex-CIA talking about how the CIA is involved in the importing of the drugs into the USA. It's readily available information if anyone wants to look it up. You can find the video on youtube even.

By claiming to be waging a war on drugs, poverty, terror, etc. The Government gives the illusion that they are in control of the situation and have a solution. It is as I said only an illusion. They do this to justify their paychecks.

Yeah..this politics is everywhere.
the government proves itself clean always.

But the drug industry works on money... just bucks.

Nd so they find one or the other way to bring in drugs.

I do not believe that they do. In fact I heard about two American border patrol agents who were put in prison because they were doing their job and stopping a drug dealer who was carrying a large amount into the US. In exchange for the testimony of the drug smuggler, he was granted permission to stay in the country.

Now that is really messed up.
