What is the difference between obsession and addiction or is it two sides of the same coin? Are either more healthy than the other or are both self destructive?

I think they are both just as dangerous because obsession is almost borderline with addiction and it can turn into it so easily. Addiction is deadly and I think if someone is obsessed with something, they need to get help before it gets out of their hands. It's like when people say flirting is cheating's ugly cousin, it's practically the same thing!

I think obsession is just a few steps below addiction. Obsession is when you like it a lot and have a bit of control, but addiction, you have no control, the addiction controls you. However obsession could lead to addiction. Am i getting confusing?

If you'll ask me, I don't know the difference between the two. So in my opinion, they're one and the same. It's just that addiction is always related to something bad, while obsession may be used for something constructive even.

I'm not sure I can put my finger on the difference here either. Perhaps an obsession takes up all time you have that is not dedicated for something else, whereas an addiction crosses that line.

I think there is a fine line between them, but I think there is a difference.
