Disconnected with Reality

People are becoming less
connected with their communities and relying on the virtual world to form close
relationships. No longer are real
communities connected; people choose to connect to online communities and have
virtual friends and ‘romantic’ relationships instead of face-to-face
contact. The question of internet
addiction is how can we change the world we live in and start reconnecting with
reality when we are already so disconnected?

Real letters can be a lot more meaningful
than just a simple email. Thinking of a
simple script to talk about with your real friends can be fun so that your
conversations can be more enjoyable and meaningful. Simple questions like ‘what did you do today,’
‘how is your family,’ how was work/school.’
You can make yourself a much better friend by keeping interested in your
friend’s lives and staying involved with your family matters. Learning to socialize in new ways can be
fun.

Sad but very true. This world we live in does rely too much on the virtual world and does not focus enough on neighbors and communities working together to help each other out.

That's such a sad thing, some people don't want to leave their houses anymore because they prefer to be in front of a screen talking to strangers, I can't see "human evolution" on that

The worst part is that children are growing up like this, and their social skills are diminshing each year. Parents can help this by not letting their lives revolve so much around technology and being good role models.

This is so true. Even now when someone is having a get together (including me) I just send them an invite on MySpace and they end up coming. I dont even do a text message anymore. its really bad.

In a way this can be a good thing just because it is really convenient and you can send out a group invite all at once. It is when that is ALL people do when there becomes a problem. One of my friends complains that she never gets any phone calls anymore. It is because people got sick of calling her because she never calls back. The only way she will really communicate now is by text or messenger.
