Is Internet Addiction disorder a hoax .When the researcher Kimberly Young proposed that IAD be included under DSM ( Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) it was widely debated with most objecting to it saying it's neither a true addiction nor can it be classified under mental disorders.Do you think internet addiction disorder exists or is this something they want recognized just to help insurance companies make more money ?

I believe that it exists, but do not think that it is a mental disorder along with drug use. Both of these things are done initally by choice and there fore should not be considered a mental disorder. In my book a mental disorder is something that is caused by natural chemistry in the body in which the mind functions inadequately.

There could be actual cases but I do not think that all people who may be diagnosed with it would actually be addicted. Addiction comes in different levels and part of what you have to do is to determine what is causing the addiction to begin with.
